  • The Opportunity

    ASI is seeking a strategic and operationally strong Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead the organization through its next phase of growth. This enterprise-level role will elevate HR into a fully integrated strategic partner. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President/Executive Director and serving on the executive leadership team, the CHRO will act as a trusted advisor, culture steward, and change leader, bringing clarity, structure, and forward-looking thinking to how ASI develops and manages its workforce and supports a healthy, productive environment.    

    This position requires a full-time, on-site commitment. Sorry, no relocation.

     Key Mandate

    • Define and execute an enterprise-wide strategy aligned to growth
    • Build and scale a modern HR operating model, systems, and infrastructure
    • Embed HR into workforce planning and organizational decision-making
    • Strengthen leadership capability and manager effectiveness
    • Develop core HR best practices (onboarding, performance, employee relations)
    • Lead workforce strategy across professional staff and student employees
    • Advance HR analytics and data-driven insights

     Responsibilities

    • Advise executive leadership and Board stakeholders on workforce strategy, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and professional development, and organizational health
    • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and change initiatives
    • Oversee HR operations, compliance, policy governance, and employee relations
    • Champion an inclusive, accountable, and development-focused culture
    • Build and lead a high-performing HR team and scalable service model                                                                                                                 

      Requirements   

    • 10+ years of progressively responsible human resources leadership experience, including service at the executive level within  higher education, nonprofit, public sector, or auxiliary enterprise.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business/Organizational Management, or a related field; professional HR certifications (e.g., SPHR/SHRM‑SCP) desirable)
    • Senior HR or people leadership experience operating as a strategic advisor within a complex, mission-driven organization.
    • Demonstrated success building or transforming HR functions, including operating models, leadership capabilities and people practices.
    • Experience supporting professional and student workforces and early-career employees. 
    • Track record of influencing executives and managers, building trust, and leading organizations through change.
