POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Generalist position reports to the Director of Human Resources and will perform a variety of tasks in support of the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, including working with independent judgement and discretion by comparing employment laws to current policies and practices while performing job functions. This is an important role that requires accuracy, attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and superior communication skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Responsible for administering the leave and return to work program.
Tracks work-related injuries and return to work status. Sends inquiries for updated doctor’s notes and communicates with the insurance carrier. Maintains OSHA recordkeeping.
Coordinates with insurance carriers on work related injury claims.
Sends FMLA paperwork and tracks absences in tracking calendar. Send inquiries for updated doctor’s notes and return to work status. Coordinates leave schedule with the payroll office for appropriate payrolls of leave time and hours worked.
Responsible for administering the employee benefits program by processing benefit enrollments, qualifying events, and terminations offered to full-time faculty and staff. Ensures accuracy in enrollments and timely corresponds with employees as needed.
Processes Arizona State Retirement System by responding to new registrations and long-term disability claims. Monitors worked hours under the 20/20 Rule, for ineligible employees.
Prepares 1095C and distributes accordingly.
Administers COBRA.
Reviews claims and submits billing information for payment from insurance carriers to the payroll office.
Coordinates open enrollment scheduling, notifications, educational meetings and materials, and processes election changes.
Responsible for administering the employee onboarding program by ensuring new hires have a positive experience, conducting the employee preliminary, onboarding and offboarding processes.
Manages and oversees the HRIS with a high level of accuracy by verifying records. Create new records, entering personnel changes, including employment exits for full-time faculty and staff, adjunct faculty and workstudy students’ employment information.
Responsible for administering the training and development program by managing the LMS for eLearning training for full-time faculty and staff, and adjunct faculty by adding new employees, assign courses, and archives termed employees. Follows up with employees to ensure completion of courses upon hire and for annual courses assigned.
Prepares and processes employment contracts in a timely manner.
Responsible for employee communications and maintains SharePoint sites and program web pages.
Responds to various internal and external requests, as assigned.
Uphold district employment/employee policies, regulations, processes, and procedures.
Develops and maintains operations manual.
Performs other duties as assigned.
