The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Human Resources Services. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations, and a key member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the Associate Vice Chancellor will lead human resource functions for the system office and in support of its 23 colleges, in alignment with the mission and strategic objectives of the VCCS.
The Associate Vice Chancellor will develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns closely with the college system’s overarching strategic plan and supports its future growth objectives. A key component of this strategy includes leading workforce planning and organizational development initiatives to ensure proactive management of staffing needs and structural efficiency across the VCCS. Through the continuous monitoring and analysis of HR metrics and trends, this role will support data-driven decision-making and foster ongoing improvement in HR operations. Additionally, the position entails overseeing policy development, ensuring legal compliance, and mitigating risks related to employment law, Title IX, labor relations, and compensation. The AVC will champion a culture of innovation and accountability, adapting HR practices to meet the evolving demands of community college education.
